It's been a few years in the making, but I can happily say that for the first time in my life I LOVE MY JOB! I am doing what I love, surrounded by an awesome community. Every time I walk into the doors of my yoga studio I not only look forward to the minute I can enter that yoga room and see all the smiling faces - but my heart sings! - my body already feels lighter.
There is something magical about being in community, where strangers become friends, the music gets us through and the breath in unison is what inspires me. My name is Carleena and I am a yoga teacher at SHINE Power Yoga. I am on our leadership team facilitating teacher trainings, writing programs as well as one of our Studio Managers. I feel blessed & honored to be working at a yoga studio, a vision and goal I set for myself wayyyy back in the summer of 2013 when I was a confused, frazzled young one.
You enter this world pure and good but with your life traumas and experiences, you can easily become distracted by your truest light. Through yoga, meditation and ample self-inquiry I have been able to strip away these stories and get closer to my essence of being joyful, excitable & whole as is.
My teaching style blends traditional yogic philosophy with Western yoga style to make my classes fun, engaging, steeped in tradition and educational. My passion is to really teach yoga, more than just the physical postures, but going deeper into the layers of what embodying a yogi means. I have a 500 hour certification in Hatha and Ashtanga as well as continuing education credits in Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Baptiste/Power Yoga, Tantrik Shivaism, Contemplative Buddhist Psychotherapy & Yogic Philosophy.
I once had a teacher share that Namaste means many things, one of them being: Not me, but you. I try to incorporate this simple thought into everything I do, especially when I show up to teach. I know my path is to be of service.
I am here - listening, loving & breathing with my students. It's been a pleasure getting to know so many students, seeing their transformations, their smiles and their accomplishments. I am overjoyed each day to continually meet yogis who inspire me, uplift me and encourage me to always move from love.
500 Hour E-RYT
Hatha & Ashtanga
Shiva Yoga Peeth
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India
Led by Swamiji Sudhir Anand, Vijay Dutt, Sushant Singh, Siddarth, Guruji Sri Santanu

I connect most with weaving traditional Eastern thought with a modern, applicable approach in my teaching style.
Sedona Mago Retreat Center
Led by Baron Baptiste
This program…WOW! Where to start. I have to say it was one of the best trainings I have ever attended with real-life results. Not only was Baron Baptiste a remembered presence to be around, but the teachings of Baptiste yoga have created a profound shift first in my way of being, and this of course trickles into my teaching! I cannot rave about this program enough to friends, family, students, colleagues. Just do it! It’s like group therapy, soulful exploration, physical cleansing and true meaningful connection all rolled up into an unforgettable ball. I promise you won’t regret it….

Baptiste Teacher Tune-Up
Baptiste Power Yoga Boston
Boston, MA, USA
Led by Brandon Compagnone + Naima Workman
This training was my first exposure in a Baptiste Affiliate environment. We were tested to be outside of our comfort zones to recognize where we're 'stuck' in our teaching methodology.
I took away so many valuable nuggets from this training and the principles we were taught allow me to continue to grow as an instructor through keeping not just my eyes open, but also my heart.
15 Hour Course in Yoga Sutras + The Bhagavad Gita
Digital, Embodied Philosophy
Led By: Joshua M. Greene, Raghunath, Christopher Tompkins, Edwin Bryant, Pandit Dasa, Nikki Costello, Rev. Jaganath Carrera, Danudhara Swami, Manorama, Matthew Remski, + Christopher Hareesh Wallis
This online course provided me with an amazing array of sources on two ancient yogic texts, The Bhagavad Gita + Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. The rich comparisons of thought and perspective from the different teachers in this course allowed me to contemplate these texts in a deeply philosophical way.
This course was designed and led by leading experts in the field of ancient yogic texts who have completed ample self-study to create their material. This course was a memorable part of my svadhyaya practice.
15 Hour Course in Tantrik Shaivism
Digital, Embodied Philosophy
Led By: Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Mary Reilly Nichols, Anodea Judith, Christopher Tompkins, Christopher Hareesh Wallis, Hari, Swami Khecaranatha, Shambhavi Sarasvati, Loren Roche, + Ramesh Bjonnes
This online course provided me with an amazing array of sources on the teachings of Non-Dual Tantra. It reminded me of my soul's connection to the teachings of Tantrik Yoga and has inspired my next training in India in 2019.
This course was designed and led by leading experts in the field of Tantrik Yoga through a varrying array of perspectives and lineages within the umbrella of Tantra. This course was really my next step into learning more about yogic philosophy after my 500 Hour YTT.
15 Hour Course in Contemplative Buddhist Psychotherapy
Digital, Embodied Philosophy
Led by: Joe Loizzo
This online course has been pivotal in my professional vision. I had always wanted to be a psychotherapist, but was dogged down by such removed language from the true human experience, and the lack of community & its role in healing and transformation.
I was immediately drawn to this field because it blends my passions of science, yoga & buddhist thought to create a fully integrated healing modality. I look forward to continuing my education further through a full master’s program on the topic in 2020!
