As a Global Advocate Fellow, Katelyn Rogozinski partnered with White Orange Youth (WOY), a community-based organization that empowers youth to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania. With nearly 60% of all new HIV infections in Tanzania occurring among youth aged between 15-24 years, White Orange Youth coaches them on sexual health education and outreach to vulnerable children and high-risk communities in rural areas. Kate shares this belief with White Orange Youth that when young people are empowered, they can create a quality life for themselves, their families and their community.

As a Global Advocate, Kate has pledged to raise $20,000 over the next seven months. 100% of these funds are going towards the expansion of WOY’s sustainability projects, specifically the WOY Farm, so that White Orange Youth can generate its own income and, subsequently, its own programming after her funds are long gone. In October, Kate will be traveling to Tanzania for three months to work closely with John Kessy, the founder of White Orange Youth. Her goal is to not only gain experience and knowledge in the area of financial sustainability but also to help create long-lasting change that will help generations to come.
